The hotel was constructed in 1982 and has recently undergone restoration and enlargement. Located on the shores of Lake Trasimeno
100 mt from the waterline, it is the ideal place from which to enjoy both a relaxing holiday and excursions into the main art cities, villages and hilltop towns of Umbria and Tuscany, whose border is only 15 km away.
Lake Trasimeno, which lays between Florence (1 hr 20 min by car) and Rome (about 2 hrs by car) is at the centre of one of Italy’s richest cultural areas: history and art, local culture and traditions. Once here visitors can easily reach cities and towns like Perugia and Assisi, Spoleto, Gubbio not to mention Todi and Città della Pieve, Castiglione del Lago of course, Passignano on the Lake itself.
In Tuscany, among others: Cortona, Firenze, Arezzo.
The Lake Trasimeno has a surface area of 128 km² and this ranks it as Italy’s fourth largest lake. Its maximum depth is 6 mt. There are three lovely islands on the lake, two of which can be visited: Polvese Island with its park and groves, and Maggiore Island with its little fishing village, still inhabited, dating back to the 1400’s. The ferry is 6 km away and can take you to and from the islands.
There are several bathing establishments along the lakeshore, one of which, with a veranda bar and restaurant, is located 300 mt from the hotel.
For bike lovers there is a well thought-out bike path in front of the hotel which follows the contours of the lake, while those passionate about motorcycling and racing can go to the Autodromo dell’Umbria 4 km away where important races are held every year.
Children too have an especially dedicated ‘city’: Città della Domenica, 20 km away just outside of Perugia, is a huge open-air zoo and children’s game park.
If you are looking to relax in thermal baths, Rapolano is 60 km away, Chianciano Terme is 50 km away.
The majestic Marmore Falls of Terni are another great destination, as is Genga and its underground caves at Frasassi, one of the world’s most beautiful karstic complexes fully equipped for the interested visitor.
